PRELIMINARY EXERCISES

Preliminary Exercises

This features different camera angles. I have studied camera angles by reading Daniel Chandler's website, The Grammar of Television and film.
I took these photos using my OnePlus 6 Phone. This allowed us to take clearer photos, and also enabled us to make sure that the face was the focused on.
Long shot
This shot shows the person as very small, as they are much further away from the camera. Allowing us to see the surrounding more
Mid Shot
The Mid shot enables us to see half of the persons frame. It is mainly used when people are talking or speaking to each other, as a long shot is too far away and a close up is to close. its setting occupies roughly equal areas in the frame.
Close Up
A close up shot is a picture which shows a fairly small part of the scene, such as a characters face. It shows the head and shoulders of the person. Close ups are usually used to show a characters feelings or reactions.
Extreme Close up
An extreme close up shot shows a characters eye line. This can usually be used to see the eyes tracking across the screen. This shot is also able to show emotion as well, as you can see the eyebrows and eyes which allows the viewers to see the emotion or expression on someones face.
Worm Shot
The worm shot is a shot that is taken from low down. This usually shows the character to seem larger than usual. Allowing them to look more threatening, or can allow emotion to shown from a different angle.
Canted Shot
The Canted shot are often used in mystery and suspense films in order to create discomfort for the viewers. This shot is unusual and therefore when it is used, it creates an uneasy feeling for the viewers.

Continuity Editing

We have experimented filming from different angles, in order to see different shots for our final piece. We filmed on my One Plus 6 phone, allowing us to go round into different rooms and film.
When editing, we used Final Cut Pro. This helped us edit our sequences together. We worked together to make sure that the final piece turned out the best it could. We added text over each shot in order to know which shot was which, we had shots such as over the shoulder shot, reflection shot and shot reverse shot.
