For Films this is especially vital as films need to have a unique selling point in order to attract people to come and watch it.

Marketing campaigns for films use their films genre to gain consumers interest, by playing on elements that are familiar to an audience. Such as focusing a movie on comedy or action and then using that as the unique selling point by having a big name such Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson to be in the movie. The unique selling point would be the action and the star cast. The USP for movies is what separates one film from another, allowing it to stand out even if it is within the same genre.
